My name is Colson and I have spent my entire lifetime living in Waukee. In May 2022, I was a part of the first graduating class from Waukee Northwest High School. In August 2022, I started my studies at Drake University where I’m majoring in Multimedia Journalism with a minor in music.

I joined Bozz Prints right about the time I started at Drake. I had been a big fan of Bozz Prints for a few years and a frequenter of the Valley Junction store. While I was looking for a new part-time gig, the shop had posted on their Instagram saying they were looking for new hires. I knew I had to join the crew.

But the first time I met John wasn’t when he interviewed me, it was when I interviewed him! While I was at Waukee Northwest, I participated in the School-to-Work program and landed an internship at Big Green Umbrella Media Inc., the publisher of Des Moines CITYVIEW and the Iowa Living Magazines. I was assigned to write about how much location matters to a business. So, I reached out to John and he was more than willing to participate. You can find that article in CITYVIEW’s January 2022 edition.

One of my favorite parts about working at Bozz Prints is talking to the customers. A lot of our products and prints are based on locations. I love hearing stories about engagements at Des Moines parks, family vacations to National Parks or Iowa connections to Hawaii or Arizona.

Nowadays, when I’m not at the shop, you can find me in class; working on homework; doing freelance writing for Big Green Umbrella; editing and writing for Drake Mag, Drake's award-winning student lifestyle publication; or a million other things around the Des Moines metro.
