Originally built to house the W. B. Foshay Company, the Foshay Tower opened in 1929 to much fanfare. In 2006, developers announced plans to spend $90 million to convert the building into the 230 room W Hotel. The building, which is an example of Art Deco architecture, is listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. This is the perfect Minneapolis art print to pay homage to one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
Run, walk or bike along Minneapolis’s Stone Arch Bridge to see one of the most famous views of the city. At night, see the city glow under the night sky of the North Star state. The former railroad bridge was originally built in 1883 and was converted into a pedestrian walkway in 1994. This art print reflects a tranquil night in Minneapolis and is a great addition to any space.
When you think of Minneapolis, you immediately think of a giant spoon and cherry… right? The sculpture Spoonbridge and Cherry by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen was the first commissioned work for the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Since the garden opened in 1988, this 50-foot long sculpture has been a symbol of the Twin Cities.
Take a 15 minute drive outside the heart of downtown Minneapolis and you’ll find a scenic oasis that’ll have you asking, “Am I still in the city?” At 109 acres, Lake of the Isles is the perfect outdoor getaway within city limits. In the summer, fish, canoe, paddle board or walk and bike the trails that surround the lake. In the winter months, you can cross country ski, ice skate or even play hockey on the park’s rink.
Imagine, you’re traveling down the Mississippi and you come up to a bright golden sign reading “Gold Medal Flour.” It’s a sign–literally– you’ve made it to Minneapolis. This print honors the 1910 Gold Medal Flour signs built for the Washburn Crosby Milling Complex. Nothing says Minneapolis more like the Gold Medal Sign, so we changed it to reflect the city itself.
